RPMI1640 and Waymouth medium (1:1) Remaining components are the same.

RPMI 1640, Waymouth, and Schneider's Drosophila Medium (1:1:1). Remaining components are the same.

D

Same as medium C with 0.2 μM xanthurenic acid.

E

Same as medium C with pupal extract and human blood lysate.

^a The pH of all media was adjusted with 10 N NaOH every time before use.

^b The sodium bicarbonate solution was prepared freshly at the time of medium preparation.
