Elisabeth Israelsson, Mattias Ekström, Amre Nasr, Amagana Dolo, Susannah Kearsley, Gishanthi Arambepola, Manijeh Homann, Bakary Maiga, Ogobara K Doumbo, Gehad ElGhazali, Hayder A Giha, Marita Troye-Blomberg, Klavs Berzins, Per Tornvall Malaria Journal 2009, 8:136 (22 June 2009) The frequency of the CRP-286A allele, which correlates with high levels of serum CRP, is lower in Fulani, an ethnic group with low susceptibility to malaria. This could be a selective advantage in fighting malaria infection.
