Human Plasmodium knowlesi infections in young children in central Vietnam Peter Eede, Hong Van, Chantal Van Overmeir, Indra Vythilingam, Thang Duc, Le Hung, Hung Manh, Jozef Anné, Umberto D'Alessandro, Annette Erhart Malaria Journal 2009, 8:249 (30 October 2009) Three of 95 samples from Vietnamese people believed to be infected with P. malariae were also positive for P. knowlesi by PCR. These findings extend the number of countries in Southeast Asia with reports of human P. knowlesi infections.
