Diagnostic comparison of malaria infection in peripheral blood, placental blood and placental biopsies in Cameroonian parturient women

A study comparing different methods for detecting malaria parasites in pregnant women at delivery in Cameroon. They find that placental histology is the most sensitive method of diagnosis, but that finding parasites on placental impression smears correlates better with clinical outcome.
